I am an Electrical & Electronics Engineer with an MBA in Marketing. After working with some of the best companies in India, I decided to get multinational experience by moving to Lagos to join a large Indian Conglomerate to build the Sales department of their Foods division.
After an 8-years stint in Nigeria, I moved to Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to join National Food Industries Co. Ltd. (NFIC), to handle the exports of their food products to the entire belt of West, Central and Southern Africa. Achieving a few milestones and developing the export business for NFIC, the company decided to move me to Lagos, to help them set-up their distribution network in Nigeria.
In 2015, I joined Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, one of the largest Nigerian manufacturing companies, to start the business-to-consumer (B2C) Sales department as the National Sales Manager, B2C. It’s been an interesting and challenging journey, weathering the storm of devaluation & recession, but as a company with strong fundamentals, Honeywell has faced this boldly and come out as a winner.
Our entry into modern trade in Nigeria was a landmark move which brought a reliable supplier that the major supermarkets could bank on into the industry. We have reached new geographies, set new records, increased numeric and weighted distribution, given every of our brand a fresh look and initiated a new route to market.
A major motivating factor for me to join Honeywell Flour Mills the strong fundamentals of Honeywell which came to the fore during the recruitment process. Ethics and best practice were very noticeable and this proved to me why Honeywell is one of the best working environments in Nigeria and an aspirational workplace for all Nigerians.
These high standards set by management are instrumental in giving Honeywell the coveted position that it enjoys in terms of quality manpower, quality products, a loving and respectful trade partner and, above all, as a responsible corporate organisation.
I have seen the organisation plan a proper career path for each and every member of staff, through learning interventions, cross-functional team assessments, job rotations, counselling and an attitude to ensure that everybody must get equal opportunities.
It has been an enlightening and delightful experience working with Honeywell. Having some prior Nigerian work experience did help, but I must admit the Honeywell experience has been excellent. Employees are free and encouraged to contribute their quota regardless of grade level, educational qualification, tribe or race.
Given the opportunity, I will join Honeywell over and over again.
