Honeywell Group has held a graduation ceremony for successful participants of the 9th Class of the Honeywell Excellence Programme (HEP). HEP is a platform for young, intelligent Nigerian graduates of tertiary institutions to hone their business management skills by providing them with a comprehensive and robust training in business management principles, over a 12-month period. All 40 participants successfully completed the 9th class of the HEP.
The colourful graduation ceremony was held on Tuesday 21st July at the Clear Essence Wellness Spa & Resort, Ikoyi, Lagos. In attendance were: Dr Oba Otudeko CFR, Chairman, Honeywell Group; Mr. Obafemi Otudeko, Group Executive Director, Honeywell Group; members of the Executive Management Committee of Honeywell Group; CEOs of all operating companies of the Honeywell Group; graduating students of the 9th Class and their family and friends; and a collection of staff across the Honeywell Group.
Speaking on the essence of the Honeywell Excellence Programme (HEP), Dr Oba Otudeko noted that: “Over the years, HEP’s content has been modified and improved upon in order to bridge the wide gap between the standard university curriculum and the business world’s expectation of our intakes. The Programme has therefore been a veritable platform for nurturing and grooming the next generation of business leaders, with the right ethical anchor. That is why we are very proud of the legacy we have instituted and the contributions we have made to the development of the Nigerian economy through the HEP.”
Dr Oba Otudeko also admonished graduating students to remain steadfast to critical values that can guarantee successful careers. “Reaching the pinnacle of your career will not come easy; it will take knowledge, wisdom, discernment, hard work, determination, perseverance, courage and commitment to excellence to become a top drawer and leading business executive” Dr. Otudeko added.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Ayomide Odumuboni, who was the best graduating student of the 9th Class, appreciated the Honeywell Group for the HEP initiative. She said the Programme was an important vehicle for developing young Nigerians into erudite professionals. She said HEP has equipped her with requisite knowledge and she was now ready to fully take on the world.
The Honeywell Excellence Programme is in its 22nd year, having been founded in 1993, and it has produced 9 sets of graduates to date.
